Adams PEL fourth public meeting flyer

The City of Rochester Hills, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) and Oakland University (OU) will host a public meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 1, to provide an update on the ongoing study to determine the future of the Adams Road corridor from Hamlin Road to Walton Boulevard in the city.

The meeting is the fourth community update public workshop for the study. It will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at West Middle School, 500 Old Perch Road in Rochester Hills. The doors will open at 5:45 p.m. and a presentation will start at 6 p.m.

The 6 p.m. presentation will take approximately 35 to 45 minutes to complete. It will focus on the refined corridor alternative and provide opportunities to learn more about the study and provide feedback.

Following the presentation, the public can view the project boards, ask the project team questions and provide additional feedback.

Throughout the study, the public and stakeholders have helped shape the future for the corridor, which could include doing nothing to minor improvements to major widening. A study website provides an overview of the process and offers an additional opportunity for the public and stakeholders to participate. The website address is https://www.rcocweb.org/652/Adams-Road-Hamlin-to-Walton-Blvd-Plannin.

The website includes a link to an interactive map and an “ideas wall”. Project documents and information about the public workshops are also on the website.

The study is funded by a $2 million federal Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant. It includes a Planning and Environmental Linkage (PEL) study and subsequent Environmental Assessment (EA) of the corridor. RCOC and the City of Rochester Hills are splitting the required local match of $500,000 to complete the study.

The grant was awarded in 2020, and the study started in 2022. Previous meetings were held on Sept. 20, 2022; May 9, 2023; and June 17, 2024. The final workshop will be held in early 2027.

Anyone wishing to attend the Oct. 1 workshop who requires special accommodations in accordance with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or Title VI, including those requiring language assistance, should call RCOC at 248-645-2000 and ask to be directed to the RCOC Planning and Environmental Concerns Department to submit your request. The Road Commission will provide such services free of charge, with seven business days’ notice.
