The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit allowing Stante Excavating to close Pontiac Trail between 11 Mile and Silver Lake roads in South Lyon and Lyon Twp. from Aug. 11 until Aug. 25 to excavate a portion of the road in conjunction with the ongoing installation of a sanitary sewer line under the road.
Stante is installing the sanitary sewer on behalf of Robertson Brothers Homes, which is constructing a subdivision nearby.
During the closure, the detour route for through traffic will be 11 Mile Road to Milford Road back to Pontiac Trail and vice versa. Access to homes and businesses along this section of Pontiac Trail will be maintained on either side of the excavation site, which is at Preakness.
This section of Pontiac Trail carries approximately 14,800 vehicles per day.
