The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit allowing Fairview Construction, a private developer, to close Union Lake Road, from the north leg of the Cooley Lake Road intersection to Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake Township, to through traffic starting Monday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 24.
The closure is necessary for the contractor to widen a section of Union Lake Road from just south of Carpathian Drive to Independence Circle in conjunction with a new housing development.
Access to homes within the closed section of Union Lake Road will be maintained throughout construction.
The detour for through traffic during the closure is Cooley Lake Road to Williams Lake Road to Elizabeth Lake Road back to Union Lake Road and vice versa.
This section of Union Lake Road carries approximately 13,490 vehicles daily.
