[ARCHIVED] RESURFACING WORK ON OXFORD AND OAKWOOD ROADS IN OXFORD & BRANDON TWPS EXPECTED TO START JULY 14 & 16

Traffic Alert Sign

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to begin resurfacing work on the following roads in Oxford and Brandon townships starting July 14 and July 16:

  • Oxford Road, Gardner Road to Ray Road, in Oxford Township – starting Monday, July 14.
  • Oakwood Road, Hadley Road to M-24/Lapeer Road, in Oxford and Brandon townships – starting Wednesday, July 16.

During construction, both roads will remain open to traffic. However, flaggers will be present to direct motorists through the work zones, and speed limits will be temporarily reduced to 35 mph to protect both workers and drivers.

Both projects are expected to be completed in mid-August.

The work on both road segments will include:

  • Milling (grinding off) the existing road surface.
  • Paving with asphalt.
  • Paving the shoulders.
  • Placing new pavement markings and installing new traffic signs.

The total cost for the two projects is approximately $1.86 million, with a majority funded through federal dollars and the balance provided by RCOC. The contractor for the project is Ace Saginaw Paving of Flint.

This section of Oakwood Road carries approximately 7,260 vehicles daily, while this section of Oxford Road carries approximately 1,500 vehicles daily.
