The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to begin resurfacing work on Orchard Lake Road, Will-O-Way Lane (north of Walnut Lake Road) to West Long Lake Road in the communities of the City of Orchard Lake Village and West Bloomfield Township, starting Monday, April 28.
During the work, this section of Orchard Lake Road will have one lane open in each direction. Flaggers will direct traffic when necessary. Motorists should expect delays. Access to side streets and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
The approximately $3.1 million project will be paid for with federal dollars and RCOC funds.
The 1.35-mile project includes:
- Removing existing pavement and resurfacing with two layers of asphalt.
- Reconstructing side street and driveway approaches.
- Repairing curbs and gutters.
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalk ramps.
- Improving drainage.
- Upgrading traffic signals.
- Installing new traffic signs and pavement markings.
This section of Orchard Lake Road carries approximately 32,110 vehicles daily.
The project is expected to be substantially completed in mid-August. Traffic-signal work will continue until late January of 2026.
The contractor for the project is Pro-Line Asphalt of Washington Township.
