[ARCHIVED] DTE TO CLOSE 12 MILE RD., JUST WEST OF TELEGRAPH RD., FOR ELECTRICAL WORK NOV. 16 - NOV. 17

Traffic Alert Sign

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit to DTE to close 12 Mile Road, just west of Telegraph Road in Southfield, for continued underground electrical work starting Saturday, Nov. 16. The road is expected to reopen on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Closing 12 Mile Road (just west of Dufty Street) is necessary so DTE can continue repairs on an underground electrical conduit that caught fire earlier this year. Access to homes and businesses along this section of 12 Mile Road will be maintained east and west of the closure.

The detour for through traffic is Telegraph Road/US 24 to 13 Mile Road to Inkster Road, back to 12 Mile Road and vice versa.

Once the road is reopened to traffic on Nov. 17, lane closures will remain in place until late December for continued work on rebuilding the electrical conduit.

This section of 12 Mile Road carries approximately 23,500 vehicles daily.

Questions regarding the work should be directed to DTE at 800-477-4747.
