The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close South Commerce Road between Glengary Road and Oakley Park Road on the Commerce Township/Wolverine Lake Village border starting Friday, Sept. 20, at 8 a.m. to remove and replace a culvert over a tributary to the Huron River. The culvert is located just north of Glengary Road.
During the closure, access to businesses, Walled Lake Central High School and homes will be maintained north of the project using Oakley Park Road.
The traffic detour is Glengary Road to Benstein Road to Oakley Park Road, back to South Commerce Road, and vice versa.
The road is expected to reopen on Monday, Sept. 23, after the contractor completes paving in the vicinity of the culvert.
The project contractor is Strata Underground LLC of Clinton Township. This section of South Commerce Road carries approximately 10,300 vehicles daily.
