The Michigan Department of Transportation has been issued a permit from the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) to close Grand River Avenue, Kensington Road to Kent Lake Road in Lyon Township and Green Oak Twp. (in Livingston County), on Saturday, Sept. 7, and again on Saturday, Sept. 14, for digital sign maintenance. Grand River Avenue will reopen the same day each weekend.
The closure is necessary to mobilize equipment on Grand River Avenue for the maintenance work. The sign is located behind the road shoulder along eastbound I-96.
During the weekend closures, the detour is Kensington Road to I-96 to Kent Lake Road, back to Grand River Avenue and vice versa.
This section of Grand River Avenue carries approximately 6,390 vehicles daily.
