Dan’s Excavating, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) contractor for the Brown, Giddings and Silver Bell roads reconstruction project, has delayed the closure of Brown between the north and south legs of Giddings Road on the Auburn Hills/Orion Township border until Monday, July 29. The closure had originally been planned for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 24
Once closed, this section of Brown Road will remain closed until approximately Aug. 20. The closure is part of the ongoing 2.8-mile project to reconstruct Brown, Giddings, and Silver Bell roads from Jamm Road to Lapeer Road (M-24) on the Auburn Hills/Orion Township border, which began April 16.
The through-traffic detour route during the closure is Brown Road to the north leg of Giddings Road to Silver Bell Road to Lapeer Road (M-24), back to Brown Road and vice versa. This segment of Brown Road carries approximately 9,920 vehicles per day.
