The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with Independence Township, will close the intersection of Waldon Road and Clintonville Road for roundabout construction starting July 8.
During the closure, homes near the intersection will be accessible from the opposite direction of the intersection. The detour routes for through traffic will be:
- Waldon Road traffic: Waldon Road to Sashabaw Road to Maybee Road to Baldwin Road, back to Waldon Road and vice versa. (Waldon Road, Baldwin Road to Clintonville Road, remains closed to through traffic as part of the ongoing gravel-road paving project.)
- Clintonville Road traffic: Clintonville Road to Maybee Road to Sashabaw Road to Clarkston Road, back to Clintonville Road and vice versa.
The roundabout is part of the ongoing Waldon Road, Baldwin Road to Clintonville Road, gravel-road paving project that started in 2023. Waldon Road remains closed to traffic until completion of the roundabout in early November.
The Waldon Road and Clintonville intersection carries approximately 8,950 vehicles daily. The contractor for this project is Dan’s Excavating of Shelby Township.
