The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), in partnership with Rochester Hills, will begin resurfacing Walton Blvd. from Adams Road to just east of Livernois on Monday, April 15.
During construction, the road will remain open to two-way traffic, though it will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Access to homes and businesses along the road will be maintained throughout the project.
The $4.4 million project is funded mainly with federal dollars with local match provided by RCOC, the City of Rochester Hills and Oakland County general government through the Tri-Party Program.
The 2.2-mile project includes:
- Removing the existing pavement and repaving Walton Blvd. from Adams Road to east of Livernois Road with asphalt.
- Replacing a culvert under the road.
- Replacing some curbs and gutters along the road.
- Upgrading pedestrian crosswalks to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
The project contractor is Pro-Line Asphalt of Washington Township. This section of Walton Blvd. carries approximately 32,770 vehicles daily.
The project is expected to be completed by approximately mid-August.
