[ARCHIVED] WISE RD., NORTH COMMERCE RD./BOGIE LAKE RD. TO CARROLL LAKE RD., IS CLOSED THROUGH OCT.

Road Closed Ahead Sign

Today, July 7, the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has closed Wise Road, from North Commerce Road/Bogie Lake Road to Carroll Lake Road in Commerce Township, through early October to remove and replace a culvert that carries the road over the Huron River.

Residential and business access is maintained east and west of the road closure. The culvert is located just west of Elkin Road and Riverwalk Trail. The detour for through traffic is Commerce Road to East Commerce Road to Carroll Lake Road, back to Wise Road and vice versa

The $1.9 million project is mostly funded with federal dollars and contributions from the Road Commission. The project includes:

  • Removal of the culvert under Wise Road that traverses the Huron River.
  • Placing a pre-cast concrete box culvert.
  • Paving with asphalt over the vicinity of the culvert.
  • Placement of new guardrails.
  • Construction of an eight-foot-wide sidewalk on the north side of the culvert to connect to a pathway in the future.

Z Contractors of Shelby Township will replace the 81-year-old culvert. This segment of Wise Road carries approximately 9,270 vehicles daily.

For more information on the project, visit the Wise Road Culvert Replacement over the Huron River page in the “Road Projects” section of the RCOC website, www.rcocweb.org.
