[ARCHIVED] CONCRETE REPAIRS ON SEVERAL ROADS TO START JUNE 23, BEGINNING WITH BROWN RD AT JAMM RD

Workers use vibration roller to compact concrete on Orchard Lake Rd

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will begin concrete repairs on Monday, June 23, with a lane closure on Brown Road at Jamm Road on the Auburn Hills/Orion Township border.

Additionally, Maple Road concrete patching at Bellingham Road, just east of I-75 in Troy, is expected to start on Tuesday, June 24.

This work involves removing and replacing selected, deteriorated concrete slabs. The work will be done mostly under lane closures.

The following roads are also scheduled for repair this year:

  • Beck Road, just south of I-96, and Grand River Ave. at Beck Road in Novi.
  • Big Beaver Road, Rochester Road to Dequindre Road in Troy. The work will be done on the left-turn lanes/crossovers in some sections of the median.
  • Dequindre Road, Maple Road/15 Mile Road to Long Lake Road/18 Mile Road, in Troy and Sterling Heights.
  • Sashabaw Road, Maybee Road to Waldon Road, in Independence Township.
  • Sleeth Road at Marcello Drive (just east of Wixom Road/Wixom Trail) in Commerce Township.
  • Union Lake Road at Cooley Lake Road in Commerce Township.
  • Haggerty Road at Heatherbrook St., at Lancaster Dr., at Geneva St. and at Glennbrook St. on the border of Novi and Farmington Hills between 12 Mile and 14 Mile roads.

Once the new concrete is placed, it must cure before it can support traffic. During the curing period, no workers will be present. Although the road may appear finished, it remains closed to traffic until the concrete has fully cured and gained the necessary strength to support traffic.

The work will cost approximately $930,000 and is funded by RCOC.

The contractor for the work is Great Lakes Contracting of Waterford Township.
