The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) is expected to begin resurfacing work on 10 Mile Road, Telegraph Road/US 24 to Lahser Road in the City of Southfield, starting Wednesday, April 16.
During the work, one lane of this section of 10 Mile Road will remain open in each direction. Access to side streets and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
The $2.5 million project is paid for with federal funds and contributions from the RCOC, the City of Southfield and Oakland County general government (through its Tri-Party Program).
The project includes
- Removing existing pavement and resurfacing with two layers of asphalt.
- Repairing curbs and gutters.
- Reconstructing side street approaches.
- Drainage improvements.
- Installing new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant pedestrian crosswalks.
- Upgrading the traffic signal at the 10 Mile Road/Berg Road intersection.
This section of 10 Mile Road carries approximately 18,500 vehicles daily.
The project is expected to be completed in late June with traffic signal work at the 10 Mile Road/Berg Road intersection continuing through mid-November.
