The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close Martindale Road bridge over the Novi-Lyon Drain, between Pontiac Trail and 12 Mile Road in Lyon Twp., this Monday, Aug. 26, due to the deterioration of the structure.
While RCOC has been monitoring the 54-year-old bridge for years due to its ongoing deterioration, the deterioration has advanced more rapidly in recent months, necessitating an emergency closure. RCOC had already targeted the bridge for replacement and had planned and funded the replacement project for next year.
This gravel section of Martindale Road carries about 600 vehicles per day. Motorists will be able to access homes and business on this section of Martindale from north or south of the bridge.
The detour route for through traffic will be Pontiac Trail west to Pontiac Trail south to 11 Mile east and back to Martindale and vice versa.
