The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) contractor for the project to replace the 11 Mile Road culvert over the Novi-Lyon Drain between Milford and South Hill roads in Lyon Township, has delayed the project start and road closure until July 29. The work was originally scheduled to start today, July 15.
The project is expected to be completed on October 25.
During the work, the road will be closed to through traffic. Access to homes within the closure will be maintained east and west of the culvert work. The detour for through traffic is Milford Road to 12 Mile Road to South Hill Road, back to 11 Mile Road, and vice versa.
The approximately $1.9 million project is paid for primarily with federal road funding and matching dollars from RCOC and Lyon Township.
The project includes:
- Removal of existing twin culverts under Eleven Mile Road that carry the Novi-Lyon Drain.
- Replacement of the culverts with a precast concrete box culvert.
- Improvements to the sanitary sewer.
- Construction of new culvert headwalls and wing walls.
- Placement of new guardrail and signs.
The contractor for the project is Toebe Construction LLC of Wixom. This section of 11 Mile Road carries approximately 400 vehicles daily.
