White Lake Township has closed Elizabeth Lake Road, from Teggerdine Road west to M-59/Highland Road, until approximately Oct. 1 for reconstruction of the road.
The reconstruction of this section of Elizabeth Lake Road will bring significant safety improvements.
In addition to reconstructing the road, other improvements include the construction of a roundabout at the Elizabeth Lake Road/Town Center Blvd. intersection, construction of pedestrian sidewalks/crosswalks, installation of street lighting, the addition of on-street parking. The road will also better accommodate future development.
Access to businesses and homes in the area will be maintained during construction, and emergency access will be maintained throughout the work. The detour for through traffic is M-59/Highland Road to Teggerdine Road, back to Elizbeth Lake Road, and vice versa.
The work is being conducted under a permit issued by the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC).
Springline Excavating is the contractor for the project on behalf of the township. This section of Elizabeth Lake Road carries approximately 8,000 vehicles daily.
