Pickering Road Culvert Replacements 2020

Project limits: Pickering Road over the Rouge Tributary 

Community:  Bloomfield Township

Estimated project cost and funding sources:  Approximate cost is $950,000.  Bloomfield Township is contributing $130,000 with the remaining $850,000 funded by the Road Commission for Oakland County.  

Construction information: 

Remove and replace three culverts at the following locations:

  • South culvert, located between Crestview Court and Kingswood Drive
  • Middle culvert, located east of Fairhill Road
  • East culvert, located just east of the middle culvert (east of Fairhill Road)

Work also includes:

  • Tree clearing, expected to begin in March of 2020
  • Consumers Energy utility relocation
  • Guardrail replacement
  • Slope grading and restoration
  • Asphalt paving over culverts
  • Erosion control
  • Water main and sanitary sewer relocation at the middle culvert just east Fairhll Road

Project anticipated start dates:  

  • March, tree removal
  • April-June, Consumers Energy utility relocation work
  • July, water main and sanitary sewer removal and replacements
  • July, culvert removals and replacements

Project completion: Late October OPEN TO TRAFFIC

Contractor:  V.I.L. Construction, Inc.  

Detour:  Access to residential property will be maintained at all times.  Fairhill Road will close at Pickering Road beginning July 24 through approximately August 28 late September.  Residential access will be maintained by using Kingswood Drive.  For impact on traffic: CLICK HERE
