Several sensors mounted on each truck provide additional information to snow
managers. One of the sensors continuously record both air and pavement
temperatures to help determine if salting is required. The temperature sensor is
mounted on the driver’s side rear-view mirror. It uses an infrared beam to check
the pavement temperature.
