PROJECTS THAT COULD DELAY TRAFFIC ON RCOC ROADS MAY 16 THROUGH MAY 23 OR MIGHT START SHORTLY THEREAFTER

Beverly Hills, Mich. — The following projects may cause traffic delays on Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) roads between May 16 and May 23 or may start shortly thereafter.

It is RCOC’s goal to conduct road improvement projects in a way that interferes with traffic as little as possible. This list includes both Road Commission projects and projects conducted by others, under permit, on roads under the jurisdiction of the Road Commission.

Please note: This information is subject to change. Projects can change from day to day, and traffic delays can develop in a matter of minutes due to weather, emergency situations, etc.

Asterisks next to projects denote new projects or a change since last week.

 

ROAD:                       Avon Road bridge over the Clinton River, just east of Livernois Road

Project:                       RCOC is replacing this bridge. The road is closed throughout the project.

Community:               Rochester Hills

Completion Date:      Mid July

 

ROAD:                       Eight Mile Road from west of Dixboro Road to Pontiac Trail

Project:                       RCOC is paving this formerly gravel road. During the project, the road is closed to through traffic. The detour route for through traffic is Pontiac Trail to Nine Mile to Dixboro and back to Eight Mile and vice versa.

Community:               On the Lyon Township/Salem Township border

Completion Date:      Open to traffic by June 1

 

ROAD:                       Grand River Ave. from just east of Novi Road to Haggerty Road

Project:                       RCOC is resurfacing this section of Grand River. During the project, the road remains open to through traffic, though there will be traffic delays.

Community:               Novi

Completion Date:      By Mid-September

 

ROAD:                       Commerce Road, Carroll Lake Road to Union Lake Road 

Project:                       RCOC is resurfacing this section of Commerce. The road will be closed at some point after school is out as part of the project, but closure dates have not yet been identified.

Community:               Commerce Township

Completion Date:      By Sept. 1

 

ROAD:                       Northbound Coolidge Highway at 10 Mile Road (I-696 Service Drive)

Project:                       The City of Huntington Woods is resurfacing Coolidge Highway at 10 Mile Road (I-696 Service Drive). As a result, northbound Coolidge is closed at 10 Mile Road until September. During the work, the detour route for northbound Coolidge Highway is 10 Mile Road to Greenfield Road to 11 Mile Road and back to Coolidge Highway.

Community:               Huntington Woods

Completion Date:      September

 

*ROAD:                     Evans Road, just east of Newark Road

Project:                       The CSX Railroad plans to close Evans Road just east of Newark at the crossing over the CSX railroad tracks from May 16 through May 21 to make grade crossing repairs. During the closure, the detour route will be North Holly Road to Belford Road to Furbush Road and back to Evans and vice versa.

Community:               Holly Twp.

Completion Date:      May 17

 

ROAD:                       Lahring Road between North Holly Road and Fagan Road 

Project:                       The CXS Railroad plans to close this section of Lahring Road from May 21 through   May 25 to make repairs to its railroad crossing. During the closure, the detour route will be North Holly Road to Belford Road to Fagan Road and back to Lahring Road and vice versa.

Community:               Holly Twp.

Completion Date:      May 24

 

Road:                          Quick Road from North Holly Road to Fagan Road  

Project:                       The CXS Railroad plans to close this section of Quick Road from May 23 through     May 25 to make repairs to its railroad crossing. During the closure, the detour route will be North Holly Road to Grange Hall Road and back to Quick Road and vice versa.

Community:               Village of Holly & Holly Twp.

Completion Date:      May 25

 

ROAD:                       Rohr Road between Maybee Road and Gregory Road 

Project:                       Orion Township has closed this section of Rohr Road to make an emergency sewer repair. It will remain closed through today, May 16. During the closure, the detour route is Maybee Road to Baldwin Road to Gregory Road and back to Rohr Road and vice versa.

Community:               Orion Twp.

Completion Date:      May 16

 

*ROAD:                     10 Mile Road (I-696 Service Drive) between John R and Dequindre roads

Project:                       This section of 10 Mile is closed to through traffic through May 29 (note: the closure dates have changed; had originally been planned for May 7-21) while Consumer’s Energy replaces a gas main under the road. During the closure, the detour route for through traffic will be John R to Woodward Heights to Dequindre and back to 10 Mile and vice versa.

Community:               Hazel Park

Completion Date:      May 29
