Whose Road Is It

 How is Oakland a donor?

Q:   HOW IS OAKLAND A "DONOR" COUNTY FOR ROAD FUNDS?

A:   In nearly every category of state-collected road funds, Oakland County does not get back 100 percent of dollars it sends to Lansing. Consequently, that portion of the money collected, based on roads in Oakland County, that is not returned, is used on roads elsewhere in the state. This condition is referred to as Oakland County's "donor status" in terms of road dollars.
