Intermittent Lane Closures Underway On Milford Road, Pontiac Trail to Milford Village Limits
Beverly Hills, Michigan - Contractors working for the Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) have begun intermittent lane closures along Milford Road between Pontiac Trail and the southern Milford Village border in Milford Township as part of the impending resurfacing of this section of Milford Road. During the intermittent lane closures, the two-lane road will remain open to two-way traffic, but traffic will be directed by flaggers. The lane closures are currently for tree removal along the road.
The project involves resurfacing this 3.8 mile section of Milford as well as adding a center left-turn lane from Lakefield Parkway to Country Court and at other intersections within the project, improved drainage, base repair and paving the shoulders for improved safety.
The road is expected to be completely closed the weekend of May 1-3, weather permitting, so the Arthur Drain culvert can be replaced. All lanes are expected to be opened by September 2, with the project completed in November.
The project is expected to cost approximately $5 million. Of that amount, approximately $3.9 million is being paid for with federal dollars. The remainder is being shared by RCOC, Milford Township and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party Program).
The primary contractor for the project is Ajax Paving of Troy.
Behind the curb restoration and shoulder work continues in 2016.
Start Date: April 13, 2016 (behind the shoulder/curb restoration and landscaping)
